If you have been diagnosed with Melanoma skin cancer, you need to undergo a wide local skin excision. You may be advised to have a Sentinel Node Biopsy at the same time.
Non-Melanoma skin cancers will also require a wide local skin excision. This confirms diagnosis, removes the cancerous cells and prevents them from recurring or from turning into something more serious.
When you attend your first consultation with Mr Smith before your surgery, he can answer any questions you have and will support you with any decisions about your treatment.
This A4 patient information sheets can be printed at home and includes information about:
- What happens during a wide local skin excision
- What are the risks
- Why you might need a sentinel node biopsy
